My story is simply that we have Kaiser Permanente, a huge bureaucracy, and it works very very well. All specialties under one roof. Complete coverage, no questions asked. Nothing deductable. No reservations. Kaiser Permanente is what a true national health care system could be like. There is no need for “private” health care. I support “public” health care, just as I support public schools, public roads, public train service, public universities. They all work well – why not public health care as well. Single payer may be a step forward, but single payer is not public health care and therefore is not enough. Private health care is a disaster – too exclusive, too fragmented, too inefficient, and too costly.
