I’m fortunate to have lived in San Francisco and have had Kaiser Insurance all my adult life. Now that I’m self-employed and live on Kauai, I am experiencing what most people have–totally illogical rules and practices that make absolutely no sense. My husband had excruciating back pain BUT, because the insurer and hospital disagree on who-knows-what, he had to fly to Oahu instead of driving 10 miles. First, it involved car-plane-van to get his mri, then the same in reverse. It took the entire day; it had to be more expensive; and, he was in PAIN so why put him through this!!
